ROLLER DERBY AND WRESTLING CO-EVENT

American Roller Derby League - Reinvented with wrestling

The Summer Scorcher event unveiled a new roller derby

The wrestling and American Roller Derby League™ rolled into Union City California on August 12th, proving once and for all the two sports have many similarities, yet are completely unlike.

Wrestling and roller derby have thousands of differences.

The event was well promoted, Phones rang non-stop as soon as the word went out about this once in a lifetime carousel of fun.

From the initial meeting and the day marketing began, it was sure to be a historical opportunity.

Fans lined up early, anticipating a one of a kind night.

Under the bright glow of outdoor stadium lights and a full moon, the setting was brilliant, colorful and sparkled with magic. "The American Roller Derby League™ has never looked sharper, classier or more professional", says famed author and historian Keith Coppage.

The ARDL presented a new look skating young and energetic
athletes mixed with the most capable superstars of the original Roller Derby® and RollerGames®.

It was a night noted in the derby history books.

The league also surprised the crowd and cameras with the appearance of the power jammers on Inline skates.

The fans, a mix of wresling and derby followers, loved the action and yelled their approval of the new speed and style that the Inline Jammers brought to the traditional derby game.

The track and wrestling ring were set side by side instead of the original plan to place the ring inside the banked track. The spectacle was bigger than life.

When the Bay City Bombers™ won the game, a youthful wrestling audience showed it’s appreciation with hands high in the air.

A happy surprise to the event organizers was that the wrestling fans supported and embraced the roller derby game. And a whole new crop of fans were won over by the Bomber superstars.

On hand were the most famous stars known in the skating world including Mark D’Amato, the man responsible for the popularity of the derby styled TV show named RollerJam.

The women's line up showed off the spit-fire, Patsy Delgado, who was voted most valuable player of the night and the most outstanding player of the evening by "SPIFFY" the well known sports authority.
